ActiveCampaign was founded in Chicago in 2003 by Jason VandeBoom and repositioned in the mid-2010s as a cloud platform for customer experience automation. It combines marketing automation, email, SMS, a workable sales CRM with deal pipelines, and a large integration catalogue. The company reports over one hundred thousand customers, mostly SMB and mid-market B2B and e-commerce teams that want serious automations without running a full HubSpot deployment.
The reason to pull ActiveCampaign into a warehouse is that its two halves live in the same tool but rarely agree in reporting. Automations create engagement, contact tags and deal movements. The sales side creates deals, custom fields and close dates. Next to Stripe charges, Shopify orders or the accounting system, the same automation gets a second number: how many deals it moved, how much revenue those deals carried, and which tags or custom fields correlate with faster closes.
