About Cin7 Core

The SMB inventory tool that started life as DEAR.

Cin7 Core is the cloud inventory and light ERP for product-based SMBs running ecommerce, wholesale and a bit of light manufacturing. It started in 2012 as DEAR Systems in Australia, an inventory add-on built on top of Xero and QuickBooks Online for small businesses moving off legacy accounting tools. Cin7 acquired DEAR in February 2021 and rebranded it to Cin7 Core in January 2023.

Cin7 Core is the SMB tier of the Cin7 family. The other product, Cin7 Omni, is the enterprise sibling with built-in EDI, deeper 3PL connectivity and custom pricing for larger multichannel operators. Core sits below that: Standard, Pro and Advanced plans, multi-warehouse, BOM and assembly, B2B portal, and the same 700-plus integrations into Shopify, Amazon, BigCommerce, Xero and QuickBooks Online that the wider platform offers. The point of pulling Core into a warehouse is not that Core has thin reports. It is that an SMB on Core also runs Shopify or Amazon for sales, Xero or QuickBooks for the books, and a marketing tool for acquisition. The questions an owner-operator asks day to day sit between those four corners.

What your Cin7 Core data is for

What you get once Cin7 Core is connected.

Cross-channel reporting

Cin7 Core stock and order data next to Shopify, Amazon and your accounting, not three separate exports patched in Excel.

  • Margin per SKU after landed cost, discounts and channel fees
  • Stock-out frequency per SKU and per warehouse
  • Sell-through and weeks-of-cover by channel

External-system automation

Keep Cin7 Core in sync with the systems an SMB owner already runs around it.

  • Shopify orders and refunds into Cin7 Core with stock moves
  • Cin7 Core invoices reconciled to Xero or QuickBooks Online
  • Reorder triggers from sell-through, not from a static minimum

AI workflows

Use Cin7 Core history to forecast demand and spot the SKUs quietly draining cash.

  • Demand forecasting per SKU, channel and warehouse
  • BOM-cost-versus-sell-price drift on assembled items
  • Slow-mover detection before the inventory write-off

Custom apps on your data

Small tools on top of Cin7 Core data for people who do not need a Cin7 seat to do their job.

  • Sales and CS see live stock and ETA without a Cin7 login
  • Wholesale buyers see availability and tier pricing in a portal
  • Owner dashboard with cash, stock and channel mix on one screen

Real business questions

Answers you will finally get.

Which SKUs are quietly costing us margin?

Margin per SKU after landed cost, channel fees, discounts and returns. The product list ranks the items that look like a hit on the gross-revenue dashboard but lose money once the marketplace cut and the return rate land. Owner-operators see the long-tail SKUs draining cash next to the heroes carrying the line.

How often are we out of stock on the SKUs that pay the bills?

Days out of stock per SKU, per warehouse and per channel, weighted by the revenue that SKU normally produces. Tells you whether the stock-outs are concentrated in your top-twenty (where one day costs more than a month of Cin7 Core), or spread across a long tail you can leave alone.

Are our BOM costs still in line with our sell prices?

For assembled items, component cost is trended over time against the listed sell price. Catches the moment a key component price moved and quietly turned a profitable kit into a break-even one, before quarterly review picks it up.

Value for everyone in the organisation

Where each function gets value.

For finance leaders

Margin per SKU after landed cost and channel fees, with a tight reconciliation between Cin7 Core invoices and Xero or QuickBooks Online. Owner-operators stop discovering at year-end that a hero SKU was a margin drain after Amazon's cut.

For sales leaders

Live stock and ETA visible to anyone in sales or wholesale, without a Cin7 seat. B2B buyers get a portal with availability and tier pricing tied to their account. Reorder cadence per buyer becomes a workable list, not a memory exercise.

For operations

Stock-out frequency per SKU and warehouse, supplier reliability against PO promise dates, and slow-mover detection before the write-off. Reorder points respond to actual sell-through, not to the static minimum someone set in 2022.

Ideas

What you can automate with Cin7 Core.

Pair with Shopify

Flow Shopify orders into Cin7 Core with stock moves

Shopify orders land in Cin7 Core as sales orders with items, pricing and tax handled, plus the matching stock movements in the right warehouse. Refunds post as credit notes and stock returns to the picked location. The DTC channel sits in the same stock ledger as wholesale and B2B, so a busy Shopify weekend does not oversell what wholesale already promised.

Pair with BigCommerce

Hold BigCommerce stock and orders in sync with Cin7 Core

For brands running a second storefront on BigCommerce alongside Shopify, stock moves on Cin7 Core push to BigCommerce so a sale on either store updates availability on both. BigCommerce orders land in Cin7 Core as sales orders, so margin and inventory by channel show up in one place rather than in two storefront dashboards.

Pair with Xero

Reconcile Cin7 Core invoices with Xero down to the line

Cin7 Core invoices, credit notes and stock-cost adjustments post to Xero with the right tax codes and the right tracking categories. The warehouse cross-checks every Cin7 document against the matching Xero entry, so the SMB classic of one tool's revenue not matching the other's at month-end stops being a quarterly mystery.

Pair with Exact Online

Tie Cin7 Core to a Belgian Exact Online entity

For groups running Cin7 Core in the operating company and Exact Online in a Belgian or Dutch entity, we align the chart of accounts, sync customer and supplier masters, and post Cin7 invoice and stock-cost totals to Exact Online with the right VAT treatment. One consolidated picture without re-keying invoices on either side.

Three steps

From Cin7 Core to answers in three steps.

01

Connect securely

OAuth authentication. Read-only by default. We sign a DPA and your admin keeps the keys.

02

Land in your warehouse

Data flows into your warehouse on your schedule. Near real time or nightly, your call. You own the data.

03

Reporting, automation, AI

We build the first dashboard, workflow or AI feature with you, then hand over the keys. Or we stay on for ongoing delivery.

Two ways to work with us

Pick the track that fits how you work.

Track 01

Self-serve

We set up the foundation. Your team builds on top.

  • Cin7 Core connector configured and running
  • Warehouse set up in your cloud account
  • Clean access for your Power BI, Fabric or Tableau team
  • Documentation on what's in the data model
  • Sync monitoring so you're warned before reports break

Best fit Teams that already have a BI analyst or data engineer and want to own the build.

Track 02

Done for you

We build the whole thing, end to end.

  • Everything in Self-serve
  • Dashboards built to the questions your team actually asks
  • Automations between your systems
  • AI workflows scoped to real tasks your team runs
  • Custom apps where a dashboard does not cut it
  • Ongoing delivery at a pace that fits your team

Best fit Teams without in-house BI or dev capacity. You tell us what you need and we deliver it.

Before you book

Frequently asked questions.

Who owns the data?

You do. It lands in your warehouse, on your cloud account. We don't resell or aggregate it. If you stop working with us, the warehouse stays yours and keeps running.

How fresh is the data?

Near real time for most operational systems. For heavier sources we schedule hourly or nightly. You pick based on what the reports need.

Do I need a warehouse already?

No. If you don't have one, we help you pick one and set it up as part of the first delivery. Common starting points are Snowflake, Microsoft Fabric, or a small Postgres start.

Is this for Cin7 Core or Cin7 Omni?

Cin7 Core, the SMB tier that grew out of DEAR Systems and was rebranded in January 2023. Cin7 Omni is the enterprise sibling with built-in EDI and deeper 3PL connectivity for larger multichannel operators, on custom pricing. Cin7 Omni has its own connector page. The two products share the Cin7 brand and some integrations, but the data model and scale are different.

What about historical data from when we were on DEAR Systems?

Cin7 Core kept the underlying DEAR data model on the rebrand, so sales orders, purchase orders, stock movements and BOMs from the DEAR era live in the same tables. We pull the full history into the warehouse, so trend analysis on cohorts of customers or SKUs that started under DEAR keeps working without a separate archive.
