About Cin7 Omni

Cin7 Omni is the advanced inventory and order platform in the Cin7 family, aimed at established multichannel retailers and wholesalers. It runs the warehouse, the orders, the B2B online stores and the EDI traffic with retail customers in one product, plug it into Shopify, Amazon, BigCommerce, a 3PL and an accounting tool, and you have a working back office for a brand selling DTC, B2B and into a big-box retailer at the same time.

This is the slot that separates Omni from Cin7 Core. Core is the SMB tier that grew out of DEAR Systems. Omni is the older mid-market product on custom pricing, with EDI as a native module instead of an add-on, deeper 3PL connectivity, an extensible B2B portal and the multichannel POS bundling that retailers running brick-and-mortar plus ecom plus wholesale need. Worth pulling out into a warehouse because once a retailer hits real EDI volume, the questions stop being about Omni alone. They are about EDI-message rejection rates per trading partner, channel-level stock allocation across DTC and wholesale, chargeback frequency by retail customer, and how Omni numbers reconcile to Xero or Exact Online on the books side.

Who owns the data?

You do. It lands in your warehouse, on your cloud account. We don't resell or aggregate it. If you stop working with us, the warehouse stays yours and keeps running.

How fresh is the data?

Near real time for most operational systems. For heavier sources we schedule hourly or nightly. You pick based on what the reports need.

Do I need a warehouse already?

No. If you don't have one, we help you pick one and set it up as part of the first delivery. Common starting points are Snowflake, Microsoft Fabric, or a small Postgres start.

Is this for Cin7 Omni or Cin7 Core?

Cin7 Omni, the older mid-market product on custom pricing, with EDI as a built-in module, deeper 3PL connectivity and an extensible B2B portal. Cin7 Core is the SMB tier that grew out of DEAR Systems, on standard plans, with EDI handled via add-ons. The two share the Cin7 brand and a chunk of the channel integrations, but the data model, the EDI footprint and the typical buyer profile are different. Cin7 Core has its own connector page.

How does the sync handle EDI traffic and 3PL confirmations?

EDI message status from Omni's built-in module lands in the warehouse as first-class records: per trading partner, per message type (850, 855, 856, 810, 940, 945) and per outcome (acknowledged, rejected, chargeback). 3PL shipment confirmations come across the same way and are tied back to the Omni shipment they belong to. Reporting can stay at the message level, roll up to retail-account scorecards, or feed an AI workflow that flags unusual rejection patterns before the next chargeback statement arrives.
