About Lobster Logistics Cloud

The integration layer between your ERP and every trading partner you ship with.

Lobster was founded in 2002 in Tutzing, just south of Munich, and runs from the same Bavarian headquarters today with around three hundred staff and offices in Amsterdam and Paris. The platform sits between an ERP or TMS and the outside world: EDI in EDIFACT, X12, VDA and IDOC, plus REST and SOAP APIs, plus file transfer over AS2, OFTP2 and SFTP. More than two thousand supply-chain teams use it to onboard trading partners, transform messages and keep orders, ASNs, invoices and inventory updates flowing.

The reason to pull Lobster into a warehouse is that the platform records every message that crosses it, with the partner, the message type, the timestamp, the success or failure status and the error reason. That feed is gold for the people who care whether the supply chain moved this week at all. It joins to the order in the ERP, the shipment in the TMS, the carrier invoice in finance and the customer ticket in service, so EDI stops being a black box that ops only opens after a partner complains.

What your Lobster Logistics Cloud data is for

What you get once Lobster Logistics Cloud is connected.

Integration reporting

Message volumes, error rates and onboarding lead time next to the orders and shipments they touch.

  • Message volume per partner, message type and direction
  • Rejection rate and error reason per trading partner
  • Onboarding lead time from first contact to first clean message

Operational automation

Turn EDI events into the nudges ops, finance and customer service would otherwise chase by hand.

  • Open a service ticket when an ASN fails three times in a row
  • Notify the buyer when a partner stops sending order acknowledgements
  • Reconcile carrier invoices against the EDI 210 freight invoice on the same shipment

AI workflows

Use message history to predict where the next partner failure will land and which mappings need attention.

  • Score partners on rolling rejection rate against shipment volume
  • Predict which message types break first when a partner upgrades their ERP
  • Cluster error reasons to find the mappings worth rebuilding

Custom apps on your data

Internal tools for ops, finance and partner management on the same Lobster feed.

  • Partner scorecard with message volume, rejection rate and SLA
  • Onboarding board tracking new partners from contract to clean go-live
  • Exception cockpit grouping failed messages by partner and root cause

Real business questions

Answers you will finally get.

Which trading partners are silently breaking our supply chain this quarter?

Rejection rate per partner per week against shipment volume on that same partner, with the top three error reasons grouped per mapping. Ops sees which partners are eating the truck-waits and where the fix is on our side versus theirs, instead of finding out from a customer call on Friday.

How long does it really take us to onboard a new EDI partner?

Days from the partner contract signed to the first clean production message, per partner, plus the share of partners stuck in test for more than thirty days. The CFO and the head of integrations get the same number, and the partners that are slipping become a list of names rather than a feeling that onboarding is slow.

Which mappings are we paying to maintain that nobody uses?

Partner-and-message-type mappings with zero traffic over the last sixty days, ranked against the rebuild and platform cost they carry. The integration team gets a real backlog for retirement work instead of carrying every legacy connection forever.

Value for everyone in the organisation

Where each function gets value.

For finance leaders

Cost per message and cost per partner against the value of the orders and shipments those partners drive. The integration platform stops being a single line on the IT budget and becomes a contribution check per trading relationship.

For sales leaders

Time-to-first-order for new partners measured against the integration onboarding curve. Sales sees which logos go live in two weeks and which sit in EDI test for two months, and the new-business plan gets adjusted accordingly.

For operations

Live partner scorecards with rejection rate, acknowledgement time and error reason per trading partner. Ops walks into the weekly carrier and 3PL call with the actual numbers on the table, not with a Lobster screenshot.

Ideas

What you can automate with Lobster Logistics Cloud.

Pair with MS Dynamics 365 Business Central

Sync Business Central orders through Lobster to trading partners

Sales orders raised in Business Central flow through Lobster as EDIFACT or X12 850s to the right trading partner, with order acknowledgements coming back into the Business Central order record. Customer service sees acknowledgement status on the order itself, instead of asking integrations whether the message went through.

Pair with SendCloud

Bridge SendCloud labels to EDI carriers via Lobster

SendCloud handles the parcel and pallet carriers that talk APIs, while Lobster handles the older trading partners that still need EDIFACT IFTSTA status updates and IFCSUM consolidation messages. The shipment record carries the same tracking number on both sides, so the carrier-mix report covers the whole stack instead of stopping at the API line.

Pair with Monta

Wire Monta warehouse events into Lobster trading-partner flows

Monta inbound receipts and pick-confirms flow through Lobster as ASN and shipment status messages to the trading partners that expect them. The 3PL stops being a separate data island for the partners on the other side, and group reporting sees the same shipment in MontaWMS, in Lobster's message log and in the partner's confirmation.

Pair with Exact Online

Reconcile EDI freight invoices against Exact Online bookings

EDI 210 freight invoices that land in Lobster are matched against the carrier invoice booked in Exact Online on the same shipment, with the gap per carrier and per route pulled out. Finance closes the freight ledger with each carrier either in tolerance or flagged with the exact delta, instead of cross-reading a portal export against a PDF invoice.

Three steps

From Lobster Logistics Cloud to answers in three steps.

01

Connect securely

OAuth authentication. Read-only by default. We sign a DPA and your admin keeps the keys.

02

Land in your warehouse

Data flows into your warehouse on your schedule. Near real time or nightly, your call. You own the data.

03

Reporting, automation, AI

We build the first dashboard, workflow or AI feature with you, then hand over the keys. Or we stay on for ongoing delivery.

Two ways to work with us

Pick the track that fits how you work.

Track 01

Self-serve

We set up the foundation. Your team builds on top.

  • Lobster Logistics Cloud connector configured and running
  • Warehouse set up in your cloud account
  • Clean access for your Power BI, Fabric or Tableau team
  • Documentation on what's in the data model
  • Sync monitoring so you're warned before reports break

Best fit Teams that already have a BI analyst or data engineer and want to own the build.

Track 02

Done for you

We build the whole thing, end to end.

  • Everything in Self-serve
  • Dashboards built to the questions your team actually asks
  • Automations between your systems
  • AI workflows scoped to real tasks your team runs
  • Custom apps where a dashboard does not cut it
  • Ongoing delivery at a pace that fits your team

Best fit Teams without in-house BI or dev capacity. You tell us what you need and we deliver it.

Before you book

Frequently asked questions.

Who owns the data?

You do. It lands in your warehouse, on your cloud account. We don't resell or aggregate it. If you stop working with us, the warehouse stays yours and keeps running.

How fresh is the data?

Near real time for most operational systems. For heavier sources we schedule hourly or nightly. You pick based on what the reports need.

Do I need a warehouse already?

No. If you don't have one, we help you pick one and set it up as part of the first delivery. Common starting points are Snowflake, Microsoft Fabric, or a small Postgres start.

Does the message log come across with the partner and error detail intact?

Yes. Every message Lobster processes lands in the warehouse with its trading partner, message type (EDIFACT, X12, VDA, IDOC, REST payload), direction, timestamp, success or failure status and the error reason on failure. That makes partner scorecards, rejection-rate analysis and root-cause grouping all answerable on the same grain Lobster's own monitoring works on.

We run Lobster on-premise. Does that change anything?

No. Lobster supports on-premise, cloud and hybrid deployments and the connector reads from the platform regardless of where it sits, as long as we can reach it on a service account. The on-premise installs we see in DACH and Benelux supply-chain teams pull through the same way as the cloud tenants.
