About Tide

The business account where the cash moves first.

Tide is a UK business finance platform for sole traders, freelancers and limited companies. It gives a small business one place for its current account, its expense cards, its invoicing and, when it needs it, business lending, and it now counts over two million members. Accounts are powered by ClearBank, and Tide itself is authorised by the Financial Conduct Authority as an electronic money institution.

The reason to pull Tide into a warehouse is that the account sees the cash first. Every transaction on the account, the running balance, the Mastercard debit and expense cards, the invoices you raised and the expenses your team logged all live in Tide days before any of it reaches Xero or Sage. Joined to your invoicing, your accounting ledger and your sales data, that early view is how you answer questions about runway, unpaid invoices and where the money went without waiting for the bank reconciliation to catch up.

What your Tide data is for

What you get once Tide is connected.

Cashflow reporting off the account itself

Balance, money in, money out and unpaid invoices on a live timeline instead of a monthly bank export.

  • Running balance and net cash movement by week, not by statement
  • Money in versus money out split by category and counterparty
  • Unpaid invoices aged against the account they should have landed in

Cash-aware automation

Let the rest of the stack react to a transaction the same day it hits the account.

  • Incoming payment on the account matches and settles the open invoice
  • Card spend over a threshold pings the owner in Slack with the merchant
  • New expense logged in Tide posts to the accounting ledger with its category

AI workflows

Use Tide history to project the runway and read the transaction descriptions no ledger keeps.

  • Runway projection from money-in and money-out velocity on the account
  • Auto-categorisation of transactions from their description and counterparty
  • Duplicate-charge and unusual-spend detection across cards and account

Custom apps on your data

Internal tools around the account data that otherwise lives in the Tide app.

  • Live cash-position board for the owner and the bookkeeper
  • Invoice-chasing view that shows who has paid and who has not
  • Card-spend lookup for whoever approves the team expenses

Real business questions

Answers you will finally get.

How many weeks of runway do we actually have?

Money-in and money-out velocity on the Tide account projected forward against the current balance, so the runway is a live number instead of a figure someone works out by hand at month-end. The recurring outgoings and the unpaid invoices that would change it sit right next to it, so you know which of them is worth chasing first.

Which invoices did we raise but never get paid for?

Invoices created in Tide matched against the incoming payments that settled them, so the ones with no matching transaction rise to the top by age and amount. Joined to the customer they belong to, the same list tells you whether it is one slow payer or a pattern across a segment, before it turns into a cashflow surprise.

Where did the money go last month?

Every outgoing transaction and card charge grouped by counterparty and category, with recurring payments separated from one-off spend. The subscription that renewed at a higher price and the supplier whose invoices quietly grew both show up without anyone exporting a statement and colouring it in by hand.

Value for everyone in the organisation

Where each function gets value.

For finance leaders

Runway, unpaid invoices and the gap between the Tide balance and the accounting cash position on one screen. Month-end reconciliation stops being the moment you discover a big supplier payment left the account two weeks before the ledger showed it.

For sales leaders

Invoices raised tied to the customers behind them and to the payments that actually landed. The account that always pays late and the one that never disputes a bill are both visible before the next quote goes out, instead of surfacing in an aged-debtors report.

For operations

Card spend, recurring outgoings and duplicate charges across every cardholder. The call on which subscriptions to cut and which cards to tighten runs on the actual account data instead of a shoebox of receipts at the end of the quarter.

Ideas

What you can automate with Tide.

Pair with Xero

Match Tide transactions to Xero invoices and bills

Incoming payments on the Tide account are matched to the Xero invoices they settle, and outgoing payments to the bills they clear. Transactions with no match rise to the top for review, so the Xero bank reconciliation reflects what the account actually did instead of a batch someone codes up at month-end.

Pair with QuickBooks Online

Post Tide expenses into QuickBooks Online with their category

Card charges and logged expenses from Tide post to QuickBooks Online as transactions with their category and counterparty already filled in. Duplicate charges are flagged before they double up in the ledger, so the QuickBooks cash position tracks the Tide account rather than trailing it.

Pair with Sage Accounting

Feed the Tide balance and movements into Sage Accounting

The Tide account balance and its transactions flow into Sage Accounting so the cash position on the books matches the account in near real time. The supplier payment that just left the account and the customer receipt that just landed are reconciled without waiting for a statement upload.

Pair with Slack

Alert the owner in Slack on large or unusual account moves

Large outgoing payments, card charges over a threshold and a balance dropping below a floor push to a Slack channel with the counterparty and amount attached. The owner sees the move the same day it hits the account instead of finding it in next week's reconciliation.

Pair with HubSpot

Show paid-or-not status on the HubSpot customer record

Whether a Tide invoice has been settled by an incoming payment posts onto the HubSpot company record, so account owners see who pays on time and who runs late before the next deal. The chronic late payer surfaces on the renewal call instead of three months later in a debtors report.

Pair with Power BI

Build the cashflow dashboard in Power BI

Tide accounts, transactions, cards and invoices land in the warehouse behind Power BI, so runway, money-in-versus-out and unpaid invoices sit on one refreshing dashboard next to your sales and accounting data. The leadership team reads the cash position without anyone rebuilding a spreadsheet each week.

Three steps

From Tide to answers in three steps.

01

Connect securely

OAuth authentication. Read-only by default. We sign a DPA and your admin keeps the keys.

02

Land in your warehouse

Data flows into your warehouse on your schedule. Near real time or nightly, your call. You own the data.

03

Reporting, automation, AI

We build the first dashboard, workflow or AI feature with you, then hand over the keys. Or we stay on for ongoing delivery.

Two ways to work with us

Pick the track that fits how you work.

Track 01

Self-serve

We set up the foundation. Your team builds on top.

  • Tide connector configured and running
  • Warehouse set up in your cloud account
  • Clean access for your Power BI, Fabric or Tableau team
  • Documentation on what's in the data model
  • Sync monitoring so you're warned before reports break

Best fit Teams that already have a BI analyst or data engineer and want to own the build.

Track 02

Done for you

We build the whole thing, end to end.

  • Everything in Self-serve
  • Dashboards built to the questions your team actually asks
  • Automations between your systems
  • AI workflows scoped to real tasks your team runs
  • Custom apps where a dashboard does not cut it
  • Ongoing delivery at a pace that fits your team

Best fit Teams without in-house BI or dev capacity. You tell us what you need and we deliver it.

Before you book

Frequently asked questions.

Who owns the data?

You do. It lands in your warehouse, on your cloud account. We don't resell or aggregate it. If you stop working with us, the warehouse stays yours and keeps running.

How fresh is the data?

Near real time for most operational systems. For heavier sources we schedule hourly or nightly. You pick based on what the reports need.

Do I need a warehouse already?

No. If you don't have one, we help you pick one and set it up as part of the first delivery. Common starting points are Snowflake, Microsoft Fabric, or a small Postgres start.

How does the data actually come out of Tide?

Tide is a UK business account provider, so its data is reached over the UK Open Banking standard rather than a plain export. In practice that means the connection runs through an authorised open banking provider, and the access is scoped to the accounts you consent to share. We handle that plumbing, so what lands in your warehouse is your accounts, transactions and balances, not a screen scrape.

Which Tide objects can we report on?

The account and its running balance, the full transaction history with counterparty and category, the Mastercard debit and expense cards, and the invoices and expenses raised in Tide. That is enough to reconcile against the accounting ledger, chase unpaid invoices and watch card spend, all from the same warehouse.

Can it handle more than one Tide account or company?

Yes. Each Tide account and company is kept separate in the warehouse with a shared shape on top, so a group with several entities can report per company and roll up to a consolidated cash position without losing the split. The transactions stay tagged to the account they belong to throughout.
