Dovetail was founded in 2017 in Sydney by Benjamin Humphrey and Bradley Ayers as a place to store, tag and analyse customer research instead of losing it in folders, decks and individual notebooks. It has grown into a customer intelligence platform used by teams at Atlassian, Canva, Cisco, Shopify, AWS and Notion to turn calls, transcripts, surveys and support tickets into structured insights, with AI features (Magic, AI Projects, AI Channels) layered on top to cluster themes and surface patterns.
The reason to pull Dovetail into a warehouse is that an insight is rarely the finish line. A research theme belongs next to the feature adoption it predicts, an interview transcript belongs next to the account it came from, a tagged quote belongs next to the renewal date or the support ticket it explains. On its own a Dovetail project lives inside the research tool; joined to your CRM, product and billing data it becomes evidence the rest of the business can act on.
