foundU connector

Use your foundU data for reporting, automation and AI.

Data Panda pulls your foundU employees, rosters, timesheets, leave and award-driven pay runs into the same warehouse as your sales, finance and operations data. From one place we turn it into dashboards, workflows and apps that operations, finance and HR use across the week, not just the morning the pay run is cut.

About foundU

Workforce platform with native Australian payroll.

foundU is a Brisbane-based workforce management and payroll platform that has been running since 2015 and is used by close to 700 Australian businesses across hospitality, retail, healthcare, aged care, childcare, pharmacy, cleaning, security, labour hire and manufacturing. The company is headquartered in Milton, Brisbane, and in April 2025 was acquired by Citation Group, which already runs HR, compliance and workplace-services products across Australia, New Zealand, the UK and Canada.

The product covers the full employment lifecycle in one system: paperless onboarding with digital signatures and VEVO right-to-work checks, rostering with live wage cost as you build the schedule, time-and-attendance with mobile and geo-located clock-in, leave management, an employee app for shift acceptance and availability, and a payroll engine that foundU built itself rather than reselling a third party. The award interpretation and pay-rule engine prices shifts against Modern Awards, enterprise agreements and the National Employment Standards, and is one of the few in the country that calculates the right rate for an employee working multiple positions across different awards in the same pay period. Single Touch Payroll Phase 2 reporting to the ATO, superannuation accrual with Beam, EOFY automation and Payday Super preparation are all native.

For finance, operations and HR, foundU is the source of truth for who worked which shift, where, under which award and at what cost, and is also the system that pays the run. The built-in reports cover the day-to-day roster manager and payroll officer view well. The questions that sit across sites, revenue and the P and L (true labour cost as a share of revenue per site, award-driven overtime trends per team, leave liability against budget, Modern Award compliance per location) need foundU data joined to point-of-sale, ERP and finance data. Our connector pulls employees, locations, positions, rosters, shifts, timesheets, leave, award tags, pay-run output and superannuation lines into the warehouse so those joins stop being a fortnightly copy-paste between exports.

Ideas

What you can automate with foundU.

Pair with Xero

Push foundU pay-run journals into Xero with the right cost split

foundU runs the Australian payroll natively, so the journal that hits Xero is the source of truth for wages, PAYG, super and leave accruals. Our pipeline lands that journal split per location, position and cost centre, instead of a single aggregated wage line per pay cycle. Finance reconciles the pay run against the GL the day it is filed, and labour cost on the P and L matches the way operations runs the sites.

Pair with QuickBooks Online

Land foundU labour cost in QuickBooks Online by site and class

foundU pay-run output, leave accruals and superannuation feed QuickBooks Online tagged by location and class so the wage line in the P and L matches the schedule that ran. Finance closes the month against the same numbers operations saw on the day, instead of reconciling two truths a fortnight after the run.

Pair with Exact Online

Reconcile foundU labour cost in Exact Online by location and project

Wage, overtime and superannuation data from foundU lands in Exact Online against the right cost centre and project per location, so the labour line in the monthly P and L is split the way operations runs the business. Variances against budget surface per location and per week, not as one aggregated number at month-end.

Pair with Slack

Push the right foundU shift and payroll alerts into the right Slack channel

No-shows, open shifts past their fill window, overtime tipping over the weekly cap, missed breaks under the relevant Modern Award and a manager pending more than three timesheet approvals in foundU push the right Slack messages to the right channel. The site manager fixes a roster gap before the lunch rush, and the payroll officer hears about a stuck pay-run check before EOFY week, instead of at the close-out review.

Pair with HubSpot

Tie foundU staffing to HubSpot service load

Booked appointments, deal volume and ticket load from HubSpot land next to foundU rosters and timesheets, so service-led teams see whether the people on shift match the work coming in. The roster gets sized against the actual sales and service pipeline per week, not against last quarter's gut feel.

Pair with monday.com

Sync foundU leave and availability into monday.com plans

Approved leave, training blocks and unavailability from foundU feed monday.com boards so project leads see who is on the floor for the week before they commit to a delivery date. Project plans stop slipping because someone forgot the half of the team on annual leave during the school holidays.

Three steps

From foundU to answers in three steps.

01

Connect securely

OAuth authentication. Read-only by default. We sign a DPA and your admin keeps the keys.

02

Land in your warehouse

Data flows into your warehouse on your schedule. Near real time or nightly, your call. You own the data.

03

Reporting, automation, AI

We build the first dashboard, workflow or AI feature with you, then hand over the keys. Or we stay on for ongoing delivery.

Two ways to work with us

Pick the track that fits how you work.

Track 01

Self-serve

We set up the foundation. Your team builds on top.

  • foundU connector configured and running
  • Warehouse set up in your cloud account
  • Clean access for your Power BI, Fabric or Tableau team
  • Documentation on what's in the data model
  • Sync monitoring so you're warned before reports break

Best fit Teams that already have a BI analyst or data engineer and want to own the build.

Track 02

Done for you

We build the whole thing, end to end.

  • Everything in Self-serve
  • Dashboards built to the questions your team actually asks
  • Automations between your systems
  • AI workflows scoped to real tasks your team runs
  • Custom apps where a dashboard does not cut it
  • Ongoing delivery at a pace that fits your team

Best fit Teams without in-house BI or dev capacity. You tell us what you need and we deliver it.

Before you book

Frequently asked questions.

Who owns the data?

You do. It lands in your warehouse, on your cloud account. We don't resell or aggregate it. If you stop working with us, the warehouse stays yours and keeps running.

How fresh is the data?

Near real time for most operational systems. For heavier sources we schedule hourly or nightly. You pick based on what the reports need.

Do I need a warehouse already?

No. If you don't have one, we help you pick one and set it up as part of the first delivery. Common starting points are Snowflake, Microsoft Fabric, or a small Postgres start.
