About Humi

An all-in-one HR, payroll and benefits platform built for Canadian SMBs.

Humi was founded in 2016 in Toronto by Andrea Bartlett, Kevin Kliman and Simon Bourgeois, and grew into one of the most-used HR, payroll and benefits platforms for Canadian small and mid-sized businesses. The product covers the full employee lifecycle on a single Canadian-hosted platform: the employee record, hiring and onboarding, time-off, performance reviews, payroll with CRA filings (T4, ROE, source deductions, EHT), and group benefits administration. In January 2025 Humi was acquired by Australian-headquartered Employment Hero and now runs as Humi by Employment Hero, with the Canadian product, support team and Quebec-French support kept in place.

Who owns the data?

You do. It lands in your warehouse, on your cloud account. We don't resell or aggregate it. If you stop working with us, the warehouse stays yours and keeps running.

How fresh is the data?

Near real time for most operational systems. For heavier sources we schedule hourly or nightly. You pick based on what the reports need.

Do I need a warehouse already?

No. If you don't have one, we help you pick one and set it up as part of the first delivery. Common starting points are Snowflake, Microsoft Fabric, or a small Postgres start.

Where does Humi data live, and does the warehouse change that?

Humi hosts payroll data on Canadian AWS infrastructure. Our connector reads it via the Humi API and lands it in the warehouse region you choose, so a Canadian customer keeps the warehouse in Canada and the data path stays in-country. Access is enforced in the warehouse, not per dashboard, so payroll fields are visible only to roles that should see them.

Which Humi entities land in the warehouse?

The connector pulls employees and employments, time-off requests and policies, payroll runs with their pay items and employer-side contributions, performance reviews, benefits enrolments, plus the recruitment side: jobs, applications and stages. That covers the reporting surface most HR, finance and operations dashboards need without a custom API job per question.

Humi was acquired by Employment Hero in January 2025. Does the connector still work?

Yes. The product runs as Humi by Employment Hero and the existing Humi accounts, login and API access remain in place per the public communication from the company. We track the rebrand and any API changes that come out of the integration into the wider Employment Hero platform, so the connector keeps working as the underlying product evolves.
