About Monta

The fulfilment layer behind most scale-up Benelux webshops.

Monta was founded in 1999 and is headquartered in Bleskensgraaf in the Netherlands, with twenty-plus fulfilment centres across the Netherlands, Germany, France and the UK. It handles pick, pack, ship and returns for over three thousand webshops, on top of its own MontaWMS, MontaShip and MontaPortal stack, with more than fifty carriers plugged in (PostNL, DPD, DHL, GLS, bpost and the rest).

The reason to pull Monta into a warehouse is that the Monta portal answers operational questions on its own terms, while finance, marketing and merchandising ask them in the order grain. Order-to-ship time, pick accuracy, per-SKU return reason and per-warehouse cost line land next to Shopify orders, SendCloud shipments and the Exact Online ledger. Fulfilment stops being a black box between the webshop and the customer, and becomes a column in the margin spreadsheet.

Real business questions

Answers you will finally get.

Which SKUs are paying more in fulfilment than they earn?

Pick-and-pack plus carrier cost per SKU against contribution after discount and return. Ranks the SKUs where the fulfilment line alone turns the product unprofitable, by channel and by warehouse.

Where does the order-to-ship clock slow down?

Hours from order creation to label scan, split by SKU, warehouse, order size and cut-off window. Shows the products that reliably miss the next-day cut-off and the warehouses where shift staffing is the actual bottleneck.

Which return reasons are really a product problem?

Return-reason codes (size, defect, damaged, changed mind) per SKU over rolling twelve weeks, against first-return rate. Separates the SKUs with a sizing or quality issue from the ones people just change their mind on.

Value for everyone in the organisation

Where each function gets value.

For finance leaders

Fulfilment cost tied to the order it belongs to. The 3PL invoice stops being a single monthly figure and becomes cost per SKU, per warehouse and per channel, feeding straight into the margin conversation.

For sales leaders

Stock on hand by warehouse and sell-through per SKU in the same view. Merchandising promotes the items that reliably ship on time and holds back on the ones sliding toward a stock-out.

For operations

Order-to-ship, pick accuracy and return-reason codes per warehouse and shift. Operations negotiates with Monta and with suppliers on the same data the 3PL bills on, not on a quarterly PDF.

Ideas

What you can automate with Monta.

Pair with Shopify

Keep Shopify and Monta in lockstep

Shopify orders flow into Monta with the right SKU mapping, and Monta stock levels push back into Shopify every few minutes. Order status, tracking and returns are reflected on the Shopify order record, so customer service never opens the Monta portal for a status lookup.

Pair with SendCloud

Match Monta carrier cost with SendCloud invoices

Monta shipments tie back to SendCloud shipping records on tracking number, so the carrier cost on the SendCloud invoice lines up with the Monta pick-and-pack cost on the same order. The fulfilment line on the P&L is finally one number with two sides, not two systems to reconcile by hand.

Pair with Exact Online

Book Monta fulfilment invoices in Exact Online

Monta invoices, inbound handling and return-processing costs post in Exact Online against the right cost centre and VAT code. The fulfilment line on the ledger reflects the real per-order cost from MontaWMS, with an audit trail straight back to the orders it covers.

Pair with WooCommerce

Wire WooCommerce into Monta without a plug-in zoo

WooCommerce orders drop into Monta with the right SKU, carrier rule and customs paperwork for non-EU destinations. Stock updates and tracking flow back to the WooCommerce order record in one direction, so the webshop, the pick bench and the customer see the same status.

Data model

Tables we make available.

These are the 8 tables we currently pull from Monta into your warehouse. Query them directly in SQL, join them to the rest of your stack, or build reports on top.

Your existing tools

Your data lands in a warehouse. Your BI tools read from it.

You keep the reporting tool you already have. We connect it to the warehouse where your Monta data lives.

Three steps

From Monta to answers in three steps.

01

Connect securely

OAuth authentication. Read-only by default. We sign a DPA and your admin keeps the keys.

02

Land in your warehouse

Data flows into your warehouse on your schedule. Near real time or nightly, your call. You own the data.

03

Reporting, automation, AI

We build the first dashboard, workflow or AI feature with you, then hand over the keys. Or we stay on for ongoing delivery.

Two ways to work with us

Pick the track that fits how you work.

Track 01

Self-serve

We set up the foundation. Your team builds on top.

  • Monta connector configured and running
  • Warehouse set up in your cloud account
  • Clean access for your Power BI, Fabric or Tableau team
  • Documentation on what's in the data model
  • Sync monitoring so you're warned before reports break

Best fit Teams that already have a BI analyst or data engineer and want to own the build.

Track 02

Done for you

We build the whole thing, end to end.

  • Everything in Self-serve
  • Dashboards built to the questions your team actually asks
  • Automations between your systems
  • AI workflows scoped to real tasks your team runs
  • Custom apps where a dashboard does not cut it
  • Ongoing delivery at a pace that fits your team

Best fit Teams without in-house BI or dev capacity. You tell us what you need and we deliver it.

Before you book

Frequently asked questions.

Who owns the data?

You do. It lands in your warehouse, on your cloud account. We don't resell or aggregate it. If you stop working with us, the warehouse stays yours and keeps running.

How fresh is the data?

Near real time for most operational systems. For heavier sources we schedule hourly or nightly. You pick based on what the reports need.

Do I need a warehouse already?

No. If you don't have one, we help you pick one and set it up as part of the first delivery. Common starting points are Snowflake, Microsoft Fabric, or a small Postgres start.

Do you keep per-warehouse detail in the data warehouse?

Yes. Monta ships out of more than twenty fulfilment centres across the Netherlands, Germany, France and the UK, and each order, pick, inbound and return is tagged with its warehouse. Cost per order, SLA and stock on hand all break out per site, so group reporting works at the same grain the operations team works on.

Are return reasons captured in enough detail to act on?

Returns from Monta carry the reason code the warehouse logs when the parcel comes back (size, defect, damaged, changed mind and the rest), tied to the original order and SKU. That makes return rate analysable per product family, per carrier and per destination, instead of as a single KPI on a monthly summary.
