About MS Dynamics 365 Business Central

The mid-market ERP that grew up inside Microsoft.

Business Central is Microsoft's cloud ERP for small and mid-sized businesses, evolved from the Navision lineage that grew into Dynamics NAV and then into the Dynamics 365 family. It covers finance, sales orders, purchasing, inventory, warehouse operations, manufacturing and service, with tight hooks into Outlook, Excel, Teams and Power BI.

The point of pulling Business Central into a warehouse is not that Business Central lacks reports. It is that organisations running Business Central usually also run Salesforce for the commercial motion, HubSpot for marketing, Shopify for DTC or Stripe for payments. The questions that leadership cares about sit in between those systems. In a warehouse, Business Central becomes the spine, and the numbers from the rest of the stack line up against it without another monthly export from the Business Central tenant.

What your MS Dynamics 365 Business Central data is for

What you get once MS Dynamics 365 Business Central is connected.

Cross-system reporting

Business Central numbers next to the systems that sit around it, not ten Power BI reports chasing each other.

  • Margin per product, customer and dimension
  • Working capital picture with AR, AP and inventory aging
  • Backlog and fulfilment SLA across sales orders

External-system automation

Keep Business Central in sync with the systems it has to talk to, without relying on another AppSource add-on.

  • Salesforce closed-won into Business Central sales orders
  • Shopify orders and refunds into Business Central
  • Stripe payouts into the Business Central bank ledger

AI workflows

Use Business Central history to forecast stock, demand and customer risk without waiting for the next Copilot feature.

  • Demand forecasting on item ledger history
  • Credit-risk scoring on customer payment behaviour
  • Supplier-reliability scoring on purchase receipts

Custom apps on your data

Small tools on top of Business Central data for people who should not need a Business Central licence.

  • Sales reps see inventory and margin at quote time
  • Warehouse leads get a prioritised pick list outside Business Central
  • Exec dashboards that do not melt during month-end close

Real business questions

Answers you will finally get.

Which dimensions are driving this quarter's P&L?

Profit and loss broken out by Business Central dimensions, with drill-through to the underlying journal entries. Shows which cost centre or project moved the quarterly number, instead of a summary row that leaves the question open.

Where is working capital leaking?

AR aging, inventory days and AP aging on the same twelve-month trend, with the cash position layered on top. Identifies the customer segment, SKU group or supplier cluster that is quietly tying up cash, not just the total that moved.

How does a deal in Salesforce become revenue in Business Central?

Closed-won Salesforce opportunity tracked to Business Central sales order, shipment, invoice and cash collection, with elapsed days at each hop. The handoff where the cycle lengthens, or where revenue leaks, becomes visible by rep, by region and by product.

Value for everyone in the organisation

Where each function gets value.

For finance leaders

Dimension-level P&L, working capital and multi-entity consolidation without the monthly intercompany export. Month-end closes on the data that was already booked, not on a pile of Excel adjustments on top of Business Central.

For sales leaders

Pipeline-to-order-to-revenue timing per rep and product line, tied back to Salesforce, HubSpot or Pipedrive. Forecast accuracy is checked against Business Central invoices, not against optimistic CRM stages.

For operations

Fulfilment SLA, purchase-to-pay cycle, supplier reliability and production throughput in one view. The handoffs between sales, warehouse and manufacturing show up as data, not as Monday-morning phone calls.

Ideas

What you can automate with MS Dynamics 365 Business Central.

Pair with Salesforce

Turn Salesforce opportunities into Business Central sales orders

Closed-won Salesforce opportunities drop into Business Central as sales orders, with customer, item and pricing mapped. Order status, shipment and invoice flow back to the opportunity, so sales and finance see the same cycle instead of arguing with two reports.

Pair with HubSpot

Hand HubSpot-sourced deals off to Business Central

Marketing-qualified HubSpot deals that reach closed-won create a Business Central quote or sales order with the right contact and deal line items. Invoice and payment status updates flow back to HubSpot, so campaign ROI is measured against booked revenue rather than pipeline value.

Pair with Shopify

Flow Shopify orders into Business Central

Shopify orders land in Business Central as sales orders with items, pricing and tax treatment handled, and refunds push back as credit notes. Stock levels, shipment status and invoice state stay in one ERP so the DTC channel is in the same P&L as the rest of the business.

Pair with Stripe

Post Stripe payouts to the Business Central bank ledger

Stripe payouts are booked in Business Central as bank journal entries with fees split out and the underlying charges linked to the Business Central invoices they paid. Month-end reconciliation between Stripe, the bank statement and the ledger stops being a manual merge.

Three steps

From MS Dynamics 365 Business Central to answers in three steps.

01

Connect securely

OAuth authentication. Read-only by default. We sign a DPA and your admin keeps the keys.

02

Land in your warehouse

Data flows into your warehouse on your schedule. Near real time or nightly, your call. You own the data.

03

Reporting, automation, AI

We build the first dashboard, workflow or AI feature with you, then hand over the keys. Or we stay on for ongoing delivery.

Two ways to work with us

Pick the track that fits how you work.

Track 01

Self-serve

We set up the foundation. Your team builds on top.

  • MS Dynamics 365 Business Central connector configured and running
  • Warehouse set up in your cloud account
  • Clean access for your Power BI, Fabric or Tableau team
  • Documentation on what's in the data model
  • Sync monitoring so you're warned before reports break

Best fit Teams that already have a BI analyst or data engineer and want to own the build.

Track 02

Done for you

We build the whole thing, end to end.

  • Everything in Self-serve
  • Dashboards built to the questions your team actually asks
  • Automations between your systems
  • AI workflows scoped to real tasks your team runs
  • Custom apps where a dashboard does not cut it
  • Ongoing delivery at a pace that fits your team

Best fit Teams without in-house BI or dev capacity. You tell us what you need and we deliver it.

Before you book

Frequently asked questions.

Who owns the data?

You do. It lands in your warehouse, on your cloud account. We don't resell or aggregate it. If you stop working with us, the warehouse stays yours and keeps running.

How fresh is the data?

Near real time for most operational systems. For heavier sources we schedule hourly or nightly. You pick based on what the reports need.

Do I need a warehouse already?

No. If you don't have one, we help you pick one and set it up as part of the first delivery. Common starting points are Snowflake, Microsoft Fabric, or a small Postgres start.

Does the sync handle both cloud Business Central and older on-prem Dynamics NAV?

Cloud Business Central is the primary path, using the published OData and Web Services APIs. For groups still running older on-prem NAV or Business Central on-prem, we connect at the SQL layer or through the extensions API, depending on what's available, so historical data can come along without forcing a version upgrade.

Are Business Central dimensions preserved in the warehouse?

Yes. Global and shortcut dimensions, plus dimension sets on each entry, come across as first-class columns in the warehouse tables. Dimension-level P&L, margin per project or cost-centre-level analysis works directly against the same splits your accountants set up in Business Central.
