About Pennylane

The French cloud book that founders and their expert-comptable share.

Pennylane was founded in 2020 in Paris. By late 2025 it had crossed one million users on the platform, served around six thousand French accounting firms and several hundred thousand SMBs, and opened its first non-French market with a German launch headquartered in Munich.

The product covers electronic invoicing, supplier bills and OCR, real-time bank feeds, full double-entry accounting under French PCG, VAT preparation and a business account with cards. The shape that matters for a warehouse is that the same Pennylane tenant is shared between the company's finance team and the external expert-comptable: the founder issues invoices and pays bills in the same database the accountant uses to close the year and file with DGFiP. Pulling Pennylane out of that shared tenant means group reporting, cash forecasts and CRM-to-invoice tracking can sit next to Stripe payouts, Shopify orders and HubSpot deals without forcing the expert-comptable to export a FEC every month.

What your Pennylane data is for

What you get once Pennylane is connected.

  • Group P&L across Pennylane SAS, SARL and SCI entities, with FX intact
  • DSO and AR aging per client, even when the client buys from two entities
  • Cash position by bank account and by entity, refreshed daily not monthly

Cross-system automation

Keep Pennylane in sync with the commercial and billing systems around it.

  • Salesforce or HubSpot closed-won pushed into Pennylane as customers and invoices
  • Stripe payouts and charges reconciled against Pennylane AR per client
  • Shopify orders and refunds posted into Pennylane with the right VAT code and journal

AI workflows

Use Pennylane history beyond the AI bookkeeping that ships in-product.

  • Cash-collection forecasting on AR aging and historic payment behaviour per client
  • Anomaly detection on supplier bills booked outside the usual chart of accounts
  • Margin and revenue projection from invoice and product data, by segment

Custom apps on your data

Internal tools on Pennylane data for people who should not need a Pennylane seat.

  • Founder cash dashboard with bank balance, runway and unpaid invoices in one screen
  • Sales-ops tool that shows the AR position next to the open opportunity
  • Group controller workbench across Pennylane entities and any non-French ledger

Real business questions

Answers you will finally get.

Does the warehouse pull stay aligned with what the expert-comptable closes the year on?

Posted journals come straight out of Pennylane with their original chart-of-account, journal code and analytics. The warehouse view is built on the same rows the expert-comptable closes on, so the management dashboard cannot drift from what gets filed at DGFiP. If a journal is reopened, the warehouse copy follows on the next refresh.

Which clients are quietly hurting cash?

AR aging per client and per entity, with the client's historic payment delay and the latest Stripe or bank-feed activity next to it. Catches the customer who looks fine on the Pennylane invoice list but has been ninety days slow on every invoice this year, and the customer who closed two deals across two entities and is over the credit limit when you look at both.

Where is recurring revenue growing or leaking?

Recurring revenue rebuilt from Pennylane invoice lines, with new, expansion, contraction and churn split by month and segment. Useful when the management number from Pennylane and the figure the founder quotes from the bank account are not the same, which they usually aren't for a multi-entity SaaS.

Value for everyone in the organisation

Where each function gets value.

For finance leaders

Group P&L, DSO and cash across Pennylane entities, refreshed daily and built on the same posted journals the expert-comptable files. The monthly close stops waiting on a FEC export and a manual merge in a spreadsheet.

For sales leaders

Pipeline-to-invoice tracked from Salesforce or HubSpot through Pennylane invoices and AR. Sales sees which deal types pay slowest and which clients are over their credit limit before quoting again.

For operations

Bank-feed reconciliation, supplier spend by category and bills awaiting approval on one board. Ops stops chasing the bookkeeper inside Pennylane for a list that the warehouse already has.

Ideas

What you can automate with Pennylane.

Pair with Stripe

Reconcile Stripe payouts against Pennylane AR

Stripe payouts and individual charges sit next to Pennylane AR in the warehouse, matched on customer, invoice and amount. The AR clerk stops chasing customers who already paid through Stripe, and the gap between Stripe gross, fees and the bank deposit lines up to the Pennylane posting before the next VAT prep.

Pair with Shopify

Post Shopify orders into Pennylane with the right VAT

Shopify orders, refunds and gift-card movements push into Pennylane with the right VAT code, journal and customer mapping per French rate (20, 10, 5.5, 2.1). Online sales land on the same Pennylane customer record as any direct invoice, so margin and recurring buyers are visible across channels instead of in a Shopify export reconciled against a Pennylane report at month-end.

Pair with HubSpot

Hand HubSpot deals to Pennylane as customers and draft invoices

Closed-won HubSpot deals create or update Pennylane customers and prepare draft invoices on the right entity, with the right VAT and analytics. Marketing reports ROI against Pennylane invoiced and paid revenue, not against a deal-stage value that never invoices, and the founder sees AR exposure per HubSpot owner.

Pair with GoCardless

Run GoCardless SEPA collections against Pennylane invoices

GoCardless SEPA Direct Debit collections and failures sit in the warehouse next to the Pennylane invoice they relate to. Failed mandates and bounced collections trigger a follow-up before the AR clerk would normally see them, and recurring SEPA revenue ties back to the right Pennylane customer rather than to a bank line.

Three steps

From Pennylane to answers in three steps.

01

Connect securely

OAuth authentication. Read-only by default. We sign a DPA and your admin keeps the keys.

02

Land in your warehouse

Data flows into your warehouse on your schedule. Near real time or nightly, your call. You own the data.

03

Reporting, automation, AI

We build the first dashboard, workflow or AI feature with you, then hand over the keys. Or we stay on for ongoing delivery.

Two ways to work with us

Pick the track that fits how you work.

Track 01

Self-serve

We set up the foundation. Your team builds on top.

  • Pennylane connector configured and running
  • Warehouse set up in your cloud account
  • Clean access for your Power BI, Fabric or Tableau team
  • Documentation on what's in the data model
  • Sync monitoring so you're warned before reports break

Best fit Teams that already have a BI analyst or data engineer and want to own the build.

Track 02

Done for you

We build the whole thing, end to end.

  • Everything in Self-serve
  • Dashboards built to the questions your team actually asks
  • Automations between your systems
  • AI workflows scoped to real tasks your team runs
  • Custom apps where a dashboard does not cut it
  • Ongoing delivery at a pace that fits your team

Best fit Teams without in-house BI or dev capacity. You tell us what you need and we deliver it.

Before you book

Frequently asked questions.

Who owns the data?

You do. It lands in your warehouse, on your cloud account. We don't resell or aggregate it. If you stop working with us, the warehouse stays yours and keeps running.

How fresh is the data?

Near real time for most operational systems. For heavier sources we schedule hourly or nightly. You pick based on what the reports need.

Do I need a warehouse already?

No. If you don't have one, we help you pick one and set it up as part of the first delivery. Common starting points are Snowflake, Microsoft Fabric, or a small Postgres start.

If our expert-comptable also works inside our Pennylane tenant, what does the warehouse pull change?

Nothing about how the firm works inside Pennylane. The warehouse pull is read-only and lands the posted journals, invoices and bills next to the systems Pennylane does not see (Salesforce, HubSpot, Stripe, Shopify, the bank). The expert-comptable keeps closing the year inside Pennylane on the same rows; finance and the founder get a management view that does not require a Pennylane seat or wait for a monthly FEC export.

We are weighing Pennylane against Cegid Loop or EBP. Does the connector treat them differently?

Each has its own connector with its own object names. Pennylane lands as Pennylane invoices, bills and journals; Cegid Loop lands as Cegid Loop schemas; EBP and Sage land separately. A French group mid-migration can run both side by side in the warehouse for a quarter so the historical Cegid or EBP entity and the new Pennylane entity report on one consolidated P&L without a forced cutover.
