About SYSPRO
The mid-market ERP built around the work order.
SYSPRO was started in 1978 in Johannesburg by brothers Phil and Chris Duff, originally written in Cobol under the Impact brand. It has stayed privately held for most of its history; in August 2024 Advent International took a majority stake. The customer base is reported at around 15,000 manufacturers and distributors across roughly 62 countries, with strong concentration in discrete and process manufacturing such as automotive parts, food and beverage, industrial machinery, electronics, packaging, plastics, metal fabrication and chemical.
The product ships as on-prem SYSPRO 8 with the Avanti web UI on top, an HTML5 single-page application that runs the same business objects against an on-prem, hybrid or cloud deployment. The point of pulling SYSPRO into a warehouse is not that SYSPRO lacks reports. It is that a SYSPRO shop usually also runs Salesforce on the commercial side, a B2B webshop on Shopify or BigCommerce, Akeneo for product master data, and often Exact Online or another local ledger in a Belgian or Dutch entity. The questions that matter, BOM cost versus actual work-order cost, lot traceability across a recall, MRP plan versus what the line really built, sit between SYSPRO and those systems. In a warehouse SYSPRO becomes the spine and the rest of the stack lines up against it.
